For the Broth

  • 5lbs of beef broth bones
    16 c𝚞𝚙𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝚠𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚛
    1/2 c peppercorns
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
    2 Bay leaves

    Optional vegetables, your choice.
I have used green onions and leeks recently.

Equipment

  • Slow cooker or heavy stainless steel stock pan
    Liquid fat strainer
Silicon, freezing trays they come in at 2 cup portions or single portions.
I purchased mine off of Amazon. They are the perfect size to store in your freezer. Also when you’re cooking a roast, you just pop one cube out and put it on your roast and all of those delicious flavors will be incorporated into your tender beef.

Preparing the spices

1
Thaw bones do not use frozen If you have run out of the bones from your steer purchase from Wyatt Beef company, you can go to your local butcher cut up some bones for you.

.

2
Turn oven on 350°
Place bones in a single layer baking sheet I like to line mine with foil or parchment paper.
3
Roast bones for a minimum of 30 minutes this is to help to get the fat off of the bones.

4
There are two cooking methods. You can use a stainless steel heavy pot or a large slow cooker.
5
If you do not have this particular size  slow cooker you may need to adjust your water depending on the size of your slow cooker. Quality equipment equals quality product I cook at least one meal a week and it is fantastic item.
6

Turn the slow cooker on high place peppercorns, half of the water, and gently place your bones in and add the rest of the water slowly. Cook on high for four hours, then turn on for eight-10 on low  depending on when you are going to sleep.

7
Depending on what time of day you put this on you need at least 24 hours of cooking sometimes you can do 24 to 36 depending on your timeframe.

If cooking for 24 hours
High 4 hours
Low 8 hours
High 4 hours
Low 4 hours
High 4 hours.
8
This is a process, but mine turns out perfect gelatin every time! Hang in there!!

Turn off at 24 hours and let it cool for 1 hour.
9

Now the fun part pour the bone broth into a gravy, separator and slowly pour the bone broth into your cubes. Make sure you don’t go past the measurement line.

10

Keep in mind when you see only the fat left in the separator, pour into a can and dispose of in the trashcan. Do not put down your sink, you will be sorry in the winter time when your pipes freeze and you have to have a rotor rooter come out to flush out your pipes. I learned the hard way.

11
You will complete this process until your tubes are filled. Let them cool before putting the lids on and storing them in the refrigerator.

Check on the bone broth the next morning morning, take one out of the refrigerator and see if it has turned to gelatin. After it’s been in the refrigerator overnight you can place it in the freezer and use your disposal.

Bone broth can be used in so many ways. You can drink it and add spices to it. Place on the stove top never in the microwave.

Add to stews, soups, roasts.
